Minister of State for Defence Affairs United Arab Emirates visit to India

Minister of State for Defence Affairs, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mr Mohammed Ahmed Al Bowardi Al Falacy is on an official visit to India at the invitation of Raksha Mantri Smt Nirmala Sitharaman. (October 16, 2018)


The UAE Minister met Raksha Mantri in New Delhi. The Ministers undertook a review of bilateral defence cooperation and deliberated upon measures to further enhance bilateral exchanges.
They recognized that deeper bilateral defence cooperation has been emphasized by the leadership of both countries as a central element in the expanded India and UAE Strategic Partnership.

During their meeting, both the Ministers discussed a range of defence cooperation issues and agreed upon priority areas for cooperation including enhanced military to military exchanges, training, military medicine and defence industry tie ups.

6th India International Silk Fair Inaugurated in New Delhi

Union Minister of Textiles, Smriti Zubin Irani, inaugurated the 6th India International Silk Fair (IISF) at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.  (October 16, 2018)


108 exhibitors from all over the country including 10 from North East and 9 from J&K are participating in the 3-day fair.

147 buyers registered their presence in the fair today. The largest contingent of buyers is from Vietnam followed by Sri Lanka, Australia, Kuwait and Egypt.

India is the 2nd largest producer of silk after China and is emerging as a leading exporter. The Indian products are in demand in USA, UK, Vietnam and Sri Lanka.

The 3-days exhibition is expected to generate business of over USD 20 million for the SMEs engaged in producing silk and silk blended garments, fabrics, accessories and floor covering........Read More
