Justice Ranjan Gogoi sworn in as 46th Chief Justice of India

Justice Ranjan Gogoi was sworn-in as the 46th Chief Justice of India (CJI). Justice Ranjan Gogoi replaces from outgoing CJI Dipak Misra, whose 13-month tenure came to a close on October 2.

Nobel Prize 2018 In Chemistry Awarded to Frances H. Arnold, George P. Smith, Sir Gregory P. Winter

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2018 award to one half to Frances H. Arnold and the other half jointly to George P. Smith and Sir Gregory P. Winter.


They were awarded the Nobel Chemistry Prize for applying the principles of evolution to develop enzymes used to make various items from bio fuels to pharmaceuticals.

India and ADB Sign $240 Million Loan For Safe Drinking Water Service For West Bengal

The Government of India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed $240 million loan for providing safe and sustainable drinking water to about 1.65 million people in three districts of the state of West Bengal affected by arsenic, fluoride, and salinity.

The project aims to provide safe and sustainable drinking water to people in Bankura, North 24 Parganas and Purba Medinipur affected by arsenic, fluoride and salinity.

Heavy reliance on groundwater puts most of the rural population in West Bengal at risk from arsenic and fluoride contamination that can lead to health problems including cancer and bone diseases.......Read More


India and ADB sign $150 million loan agreement for first Skill Park in Madhya Pradesh

Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India signed a $150 million Loan Agreement in New Delhi to establish a Global Skills Park (GSP) in Madhya Pradesh, the First Multi-Skills Park in India, to enhance the quality of Technical and Vocational Education And Training (TVET) System in the State and create a more skilled workforce.

The Global Skills Park (GSP), to be set up in Bhopal, will help enhance the quality of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system in the state.

Union Cabinet approves MoU to promote India-Russia cooperation in MSME

Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between National Small Industries Corporation Ltd. (NSIC) - a Public Sector Undertaking of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) of India and Russian Small and Medium Business Corporation (RSMB).


The objective of the MoU is to promote cooperation between the Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of the two countries.

It would provide a structured framework and enabling environment to the MSME sector of the two countries to understand each other's strengths, markets, technologies, policies.

IIT-Kharagpur named national coordinator for research scheme - SPARC of HRD ministry

IIT-Kharagpur has been named the national coordinating institute of the Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC) of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

As the national coordinator, IIT Kharagpur will be routing SPARC funds, managing the online portal, coordinating with the other nodal institutes of India, organising two annual SPARC conferences, liaising with MHRD and managing the intellectual output of SPARC

Udyam Abhilasha: SIDBI launches national level entrepreneurship awareness campaign

Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), has launched a national level entrepreneurship awareness campaign Udyam Abhilasha, in 115 aspirational districts identified by NITI Aayog in 28 States.

The six-day campaign will run from 3 October to 8 October, 2018 across India and reach out to around 15,000 youth.

This will help 800 trainers create and provide entrepreneurship training to the aspiring youths across these districts.

For implementing this campaign, SIDBI has partnered with CSC e-Governance Services India Limited, a Special Purpose Vehicle, (CSC SPV) under Ministry of Electronics & IT through their CSCs......Read More


Manipur declared as 23rd open defecation free state: CM of Manipur

Manipur Chief Minister (CM) N Biren Singh declared Manipur as the 23rd state to become Open Defecation Free (ODF) in India. It is the 5th North-Eastern state to get the tag.
